Sandra Ball - Starting with the Beginning Sandra is Surrey School District's Inner-City Early Learning Coordinator. She is a wonderful mentor and so willing to help out teachers with their math practice. In addition to her role as Early Learning Coordinator, Sandra is also a Math Helping Teacher. She is a guru when it comes to understanding the foundational Mathematics students need to know in the Early Primary years. Her site is full of engaging, practical ideas you can print and use with ease. Janice Novakowski - Richmond School District's Math and Science Blog and her old blog is here Janice is the Math Consultant for the Richmond School District. She is by far the most knowledgeable person I know and I am not just talking about Mathematics ! I don't think she sleeps. Janice is currently completing her Ph.D. in Mathematics with a focus on Inquiry. She works with students from k - Gr.12 and shares the inspirational lessons she does in classrooms throughout Richmond in Mathematics and Science. Janice is also a leading BC Educator in the Reggio Emilia approach and incorporating the First People's Principles of Learning into all curricular areas. Carole Fullerton - Mathematical Thinking Carole is a renowned Mathematical Consultant who presents across North America. She has published many books and works with various School Districts to promote Mathematical Thinking. Her website has an abundance of ideas that will not only inspire but they will also increase the success of your students. Within Carole's site you are able to order her outstanding Math books. Chris Hunter - Reflections in the Why Chris is a Math Helping Teacher in the Surrey School District. He was formerly a high school Math teacher but now works with teachers K - 12. He shares the daily lessons he teaches in classrooms and has a wealth of great ideas and resources on his site. Jacob Martens - SD37 Numeracy Jacob is the latest addition to the Delta School District. His background is in Science but he shares a love of Math as well. He curates the Numeracy website for Delta and shares inspirational stories of working with teachers in his district on their Math practices. Andrew Stadel - Divisible by 3 Mr. Stadel is an inspirational Middle School Teacher. He is well known for sharing his daily estimation activities. He is also a Math Consultant and helps teachers and students interact meaningfully and memorably with Mathematics. Deidre Bailey - Savouring the Ish Deidre is a Grade Seven Math and Science Teacher in Calgary. She is an inspirational teacher and shares the amazing lessons she designs for her students. My favourite blogpost of hers is called Monkeys or Mathematicians (Math is More Than Memorization) Marilyn Burns - Math Blog Marilyn is one the most highly respected Mathematics educators. She is renowned for her numerous publications, speaking engagements, professional in-service sessions and her Math Solutions organization. |
Making Number Talks Matter Book Study Blog - This site is curated by several teachers who are collaborating on a book study. The book is called Number Talks K - 5 and is written by Sherry Parrish.
NCTM Illuminations - This site is curated by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. It has many lesson ideas, as well as interactive computer games that develop Math concepts. Reggio Inspired Mathematics - This site is curated by Janice Novakowski and other educators who have been collaborating in exploring Reggio Inspired Inquiry Based Mathematics.
